- Impact on Household energy bills This report details the impact of developing renewable energy infrastructure on household bills. Of the £455 increase in typical household bills since 2004 the rise in gas price was responsible for £290, while £75 was for policies to reduce carbon emissions (including investment in efficiency improvements in homes), of which £30 was to support investments in low-carbon power generation (solar, wind, hydro and biomass). The remaining £90 was due to increasing transmission costs and increases in VAT.
- RSPB report on renewable energy Section 2.3 of this report outlines the current scientific evidence of the impact of onshore wind power on bird populations. It finds that the vast majority of wind farms have no lasting impact on bird life. Deaths from colisions do occur, but these are infrequent and should be consdidered in the context of other infrastructure which is also a cause of bird deaths.
